Key features

matrixMAX provides a structured matrix view of issues across selected host groups, allowing you to quickly identify which host and service are affected. It organizes data based on trigger tags using the key:value format (default matrix:value), which can be customized as needed.

The widget works standalone but reaches its full potential when combined with matrixMAX-detail or inventoryMAX, offering a deeper view of events and user actions such as executing checks, viewing history, or updating problems directly.

Widget matrixMAX

The matrixMAX is a powerful Zabbix widget that visualizes service statuses across hosts in a clear, color-coded matrix based on trigger tags. Each cell represents a host–service combination and reflects the highest problem severity, allowing instant identification of issues within large infrastructures.

The widget supports intuitive interaction:

  • Left click on a host opens Monitoring → Problems filtered by that host.
  • Left click on a trigger opens Monitoring → Problems filtered by the trigger tag.
  • Right click on a host or trigger cell displays the standard Zabbix context menu, maintaining native usability and workflow continuity.

Widget matrixMAX-detail

Provides a detailed view of the selected host and service from the matrix. It includes operational data, recent problems, action logs, and options like Execute now, History, Graph, or Update problem – all directly within the dashboard.

Module inventoryMAX – potential expansion

The inventoryMAX is an additional Zabbix module – no longer included in the matrixMAX package, but tightly integrated with it. It extends Zabbix’s native inventory by introducing customizable virtual fields and structured metadata stored in JSON format.

With this module, administrators can define their own attributes (e.g. service owner, CMDB ID, system role) and display them directly in widgets such as matrixMAX-detail. This enables richer host information, better filtering, and consistent metadata management across the entire monitoring environment.

FAQ

What should I do if I want to buy a widget in the PRO version?

Select the desired widget on the product page and click the Get PRO button. You will go through a short checkout handled by FastSpring – you can pay by card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. The purchase is one-time: you get a lifetime license, with no subscription and no recurring fees. After payment you receive an invoice and an invitation to the initMAX customer portal, where you will find the product, issue a repository token and install the PRO edition from repo.initmax.com. Updates and support are included for as long as initMAX maintains the product.

What should I do if I lose my access data for a purchased product?

Open https://portal.initmax.com, click “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page and enter the e-mail address you used when purchasing the product – you will receive a reset link. Repository tokens can be re-issued anytime in the portal under Profile – Repo tokens. If you no longer have access to that mailbox or run into any issue, contact our support at [email protected] and we will help you recover the account.

What do I need to use the widget?

A running Zabbix installation – the supported Zabbix versions and the minimum PHP version are listed in the Requirements section of each product page. The widget installs on the Zabbix frontend server as a standard deb/rpm package from repo.initmax.com, so you need root access to that server. No special hardware is required.

How do I get to the product I have purchased?

You will receive an email confirmation of the successfully paid order together with an invoice. Right after the purchase we create your account in the initMAX customer portal (https://portal.initmax.com) and send you an invitation email – there you activate the account and set your password. In the portal you will find your licensed products, release changelogs, documentation and guided installation instructions. Paid widgets install directly from our package repository repo.initmax.com: issue a repository token in the portal (Profile – Repo tokens) and follow the How-to-install steps shown in the product catalog. Updates are then delivered through your package manager (apt/dnf/zypper).
