How we helped Cancom coordinate Zabbix practices across the company

We were introduced to Cancom during our training. Richard Germanus (Manager Strategic Services – Monitoring at CANCOM Slovakia) appreciated our communication and professionalism. He decided to take on a big challenge. Together we set out to unify a system where over 200 companies communicate with each other.

About Cancom

Cancom provides services in a variety of industries. It has clients in hotels, financial institutions, the automotive industry and healthcare services. Within Cancom Managed Services, it mainly focuses on monitoring clients in the DACH region.

Daily they monitor over 30,000 facilities that their clients desperately need for their operations. Together with initMAX, they are now working to expand the capacity of their monitoring infrastructure, which is currently capable of processing 35,000 values per 1 second.

A challange for us

We had a big challenge ahead of us. To unify 5 IT monitoring systems across Cancom. And begin the migration using Zabbix.

  • Convincing Cancom and its management to make a major investment in migrating IT monitoring systems to Zabbix
  • Increase the capacity of monitored devices
  • Clean the system and prepare it for migration to Zabbix
  • Set up a Zabbix system where over 200 companies communicate with each other

Our solution

What were the different steps of our solution?

  • Two-day workshop with a 20-page output analysis of the Cancom system
  • Identifying the problems and proposing solutions
  • We helped Cancom to justify the proposed steps and, as a result, the company’s management decided to make a major investment in migrating their IT monitoring systems
  • With Cancom, we coordinated Zabbix procedures across the company
  • Cancom purchased hardware that can monitor half as many devices as before

 

Even before the project was fully concluded, the results were already visible. The original limit of more than 20,000 processed values per second was increased to up to 35,000 values per second, almost doubling the capacity. All devices now communicate with each other in one clear system. Cancom has all of its and its customers’ solutions under control and under constant supervision.
